You don’t need a certificate to start tasting coffee like a pro, just a curious palate and the right beans.

Step 1: Understand the Notes
Think of tasting notes like the hints of flavor you’d find in wine. No one’s adding orange slices or cocoa powder to the roast, it’s just how the bean expresses itself when grown, processed, and roasted a certain way.

- Citrus notes often come from high-altitude African coffees. They might remind you of lemon zest or orange peel.
- Chocolate flavors show up in many Central American coffees and taste like cocoa, not a candy bar.

Step 3: Brew Consistently
To notice flavor differences, consistency is key. We recommend:
- Medium grind
- 1:16 ratio (1g coffee to 16g water)
- Water around 200°F
